Welcome!
Welcome to my blog on Appalachia Co. Apothecary! Writing a blog is something I have tried in the past but never went through with; most likely because there can be a lot of pressure around it. My purpose with this is to simply share my knowledge surrounding herbalism including recipes, new ideas, spontaneous thoughts, etc. Herbalism is an everlasting journey. It is an experience that no matter how advances the herbalist, we are always learning. Something that I needed to realized through my schooling was that I am not expected to remember every detail of every herb (I learned about over 500 herbs in under 3 years!). However, that is the beauty of the synergistic nature of herbalism. As we grow, so does our knowledge and experiences.
I recently finished up my Master’s in Herbal Medicine and afterwards, an immense daunting feeling had come over me. I have now been set free into the world of herbalism without the crutch of my professors or peers to guide me. As I navigate my business, and share what I’ve learned and use in my everyday life, I only hope to you continue to join me.
I have just begun a new chapter in Integrative Health and Nutrition. The same college I recently finished at, started offering a Doctorate of Science program and after looking at the coursework, I felt it was a new challenge I was willing to face. Through my herbal studies, and now, I grew a desire to pursue women’s health. Women are still not given the proper opportunity to care for their bodies the way they should. With my desire to open a wellness center after my degree, I hope to help women receive adequate nutritional and health guidance.
Anyways, I hope to post a blog update when I feel is right. I wish to not put pressure on myself to post a certain number of entries a week or month.
I hope you enjoy!
